Summer is an amazing time to be in Edmonton, whether you are a resident or planning to take a trip to the “Festival City”, you will find a plethora of family-friendly summer fun! One of the great festivals essential for you and your family to take in this summer is KidsFringe, happening August 14-23, 2015 as part of the Edmonton International Fringe Festival.

KidsFringe is THE sparkly little jewel of the Edmonton Fringe, produced by Fringe Theatre Adventures, and is back this year with extended hours. Located at the North end of the Festival site (104 street, between 85 and 86 avenue), KidsFringe is a magical, musical, adventure awaiting you and your kiddies to explore. This mini-Fringe site prides itself in fostering an interest and appreciation for theatre in children and youth. Over the nine days, the Festival hosts exciting arts-based activities and entertainment designed to stimulate creativity and self-expression, and best of all it’s FREE!

"KidsFringe is some of the best family fun you'll have all summer!” says Jennifer Peebles, KidsFringe Coordinator. “Check the program ahead of time to see what great adventures await you at KidsFringe!"

With joy and laughter erupting around you, and with so many things to see and do, it’s easy to get caught up in all the KidsFringe frenzy! So to get the most out of your trip to KidsFringe, take a look at the MUST SEE’S for you and your brood this summer.

Musicians, storytellers, fantastical performers, and puppeteers will entertain the whole family. Get hands on and interactive with community organizations who will guide you and your kids through fun educational journeys on taking care of our planet, our community and our own health and well being. The KidStage is also home to the KidsFringe Youth Troupe, a group of remarkably talented teenagers, who will perform interactive plays that will get your kids in on the action!

If you’re looking for adventure and magic, look no further than the Book Nook! Join your children on an imaginative journey with fantastic storytelling and books.

Creativity takes over in the Craft Corner, where you and your children can make your own special masterpieces.

Come to Centre Square prepared to PLAY. The KidsFringe Youth Troupe will lead a medley of fun activities and games in this very special spot in KidsFringe. The KidsFringe parachute may even come out to play too!

Parents with ‘little ones’ will want to stop by the Tots Tent where puppet shows, songs, games and activities have been thoughtfully designed for newborns to 5-year-olds.

The KidsFringe festivities kick off on Friday, August 14 with the newly added Opening Ceremonies at 10:30am in ATB Financial Park. Come out for an outdoor performance and then join in the parade to the KidsFringe site to officially open the gates. Extended hours are being rolled out this year to better maximize the amount of fun to be had; Friday, August 14-9:30am-6:00pm, Monday-9:30am- 6:00pm, Tuesday-Friday- 9:30am-7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday- 11:00am-6:00pm.
