Kids Standing Up for Kids: a Sportball fundraising event for the Stollery.

April 14th, 2015

What do you get when you combine a fantastic family event and a worthwhile local Edmonton cause?

You get an event you won’t want to miss, that’s for sure!

On Sunday, May 3rd, Sportball Edmonton will be hosting a fundraising carnival called Kids Standing Up for Kids, with all proceeds going to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

The Stollery is well loved and respected in Edmonton for the impact they have on children’s lives and their dedication to improving outcomes. As an organization that works so closely with kids, Sportball Edmonton has a special fondness for the Stollery.

Earlier this year, one of our own Sportballers started a round of treatments at the Stollery, and we’ve known a few other kids who have also spent time at the children’s hospital. All the coaches in our Sportball family are extremely excited now at the chance to give back to the Stollery.

Together with our fantastic Sportball fans and terrific sponsors (like Edmonton’s Child Magazine!), we’re using this carnival as a way to raise both awareness and donations. We’re proud to say that 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Stollery.

So mark your calendars for an afternoon of family fun. We’ll be at the Tegler Centre at Concordia University (7128 Ada Boulevard) from 1pm - 4pm on Sunday, May 3rd. Entrance is $25 and covers your entire family, but please note that it is currently cash only (ATM is available on site).

We’ll have entertainment for kids of all ages, including Sportball games, a bouncy castle, face painting, a Dance Zone, a bubble tent, and much more. We’ll have guest appearances from Queen Elsa and Princess Ana thanks to Positively Princess’d, and our very own Coach Tad will be doing caricatures of you and your kids.

Parents, we’ve got entertainment for you too! A local Starbucks will be hosting our Juice Gardens serving juice, iced tea, coffee, water, and cookies. We’ll also be holding a raffle, and a silent auction filled with items donated by local Edmonton businesses.

You can visit the Kids Standing Up for Kids event page for more details. We’d love for you to invite your family and friends along too.

Add our May 3rd event to your family’s calendar, spread the word, and help us create an amazing day that your kids, and the Stollery Children’s Hospital, will love. We’ll see you there!

Robyn Petrik has been working with Sportball Edmonton for over two years as a coach, and is also the social media captain. She loves working with kids and getting the chance to light up their day by teaching them new skills and making silly faces. Robyn also runs her own freelance writing business, though it’s usually not quite as fun as racing kids in Sportball class.
