5th annual SkirtsAfire herArts Festival Artist Profile Visual Art Exhibition: In/Hospitable Women Curated by Mary Joyce

SkirtsAfire herArts Festival is pleased to present In/Hospitable Women, curated by Mary Joyce as part of the 5th annual SkirtsAfire herArts Festival. The exhibit will be at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts Gallery (9225 118 Ave) and open March 6 – 10 from 10am – 2pm and March 9 – 12 during festival hours.

Featuring the work of Lynn Malin, Jennie Vegt, Lana Whiskeyjack, Marlena Wyman, Sherri Chaba, Michelle Lavoie and Bonnie Blackburn, In/Hospitable Women examines the traditional roles of women in society and the hard choices women in the arts often need to make. Curator Mary Joyce is an award-winning printmaker, drawer and painter. Born in Montreal and now living in Edmonton, Mary has been producing, exhibiting, jurying, teaching, hanging, selecting and writing about art in Edmonton for 30 years.

SkirtsAfire herArts Festival is heating up March 9 - 12th, 2017, featuring the work of women in theatre, music, dance, visual art, comedy and spoken word in various venues along 118th Avenue. Artists and audience come together to share in these powerful, moving, insightful and entertaining performances, exhibitions and workshops. SkirtsAfire herArts Festival is Edmonton’s only multidisciplinary festival celebrating and elevating the work of women in the arts.
