Alberta residents in need to receive free tickets to The Nutcracker

November 25th, 2015

Alberta Ballet teams up with Sun Life Financial to hand out thousands of tickets

CALGARY & EDMONTON, AB – (November 25, 2015) – Alberta Ballet is thrilled to be partnering with Sun Life Financial to launch The Sun Life Financial Nutcracker Dream, bringing free access to live ballet to thousands of at-risk and underserved Albertans. The Sun Life Financial Nutcracker Dream is a crowd funding campaign that will send over 2,000 children and youth from Alberta to The Nutcracker in both Calgary and Edmonton.

The goal of raising $20,000 will send 2,000 children and youth to the 2015 season of The Nutcracker. Every $10 raised will provide one child with access to this wonderful opportunity. Sun Life Financial will also be sending an additional 1,000 children to The Nutcracker, making the reach of this program even greater, bringing the total number of tickets shared throughout the community to 3,000.

“We are thrilled to not only be supporting programs like this but helping people connect to the arts and cultural community,” said Paul Joliat, Assistant Vice-President, Philanthropy & Sponsorships, Sun Life Financial. “We hope these tickets will help to make the holiday season brighter for those in Calgary and Edmonton.”

The Sun Life Financial Nutcracker Dream is funded through Sun Life’s award-winning Making the Arts More Accessible™ program – the focus of their support of arts and culture, created to provide increased access to a wide range of cultural events, performances, concerts and visual attractions that might otherwise have been out of reach financially.

Alberta Ballet is pleased to work with our community partners Kids up Front to ensure deserving children receive this opportunity.
