Eleven-year-old Edmonton girl to receive her Wish to own a horse!

February 13th, 2016

The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, Alberta Chapter, will be granting Sydni her wish to own her own horse with the support of Whitemud Equine Learning Center Association and BARCOL Doors and Windows.
In 2006, Sydni was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, which mainly affects the digestive system and lungs. She always knew she wanted to own her own horse as she loves riding and particularly, jumping. When Sydni met Java (the horse she will be presented with) it was love at first sight. She has started to save her own money to buy Java but what Sydni does not know is that her Wish will be granted by Children’s Wish. With the generous support of WELCA for lessons and indoor board and BARCOL for full tack and stable supplies, Sydni will learn horsemanship and horse care and will be able to start training with Java immediately.

Sydni will be surprised with the presentation of her new horse, Java, Monday, February 15th at WELCA Riding Arena.

The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest all Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to more than 23,000 children and their families.
This year, the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes across the country with the help of volunteers and generous donors; that is approximately three wishes each and every day, all year long. This year, the Alberta Chapter has granted 101 Wishes, with 39 Wishes granted in Edmonton. Each wish is the child’s most heartfelt wish, and carefully structured to meet the particular needs of the child and their family.

Already this year, The Children's Wish Foundation is experiencing unprecedented increases of wish referrals through our strong medical community relationships for our wishes granted to children with life-threatening illnesses. Now more than ever, we are encouraging Canadians to donate and support The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada to help us continue to grant the next most heartfelt wish. Children’s Wish is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory. Visit www.childrenswish.ca for more information and to donate.
