Silver Skate Festival Edmonton │ February 10 – 20, 2017

January 13th, 2017

The Silver Skate Festival is a 10-day, family-oriented festival running February 10-20, 2017 in Edmonton's scenic river valley. Rooted in Dutch winter traditions, the festival combines sport (especially skating), arts and culture, and recreation. Entering its 27th year in 2017, the Silver Skate Festival is the longest running winter festival in Edmonton. Over the years, it has grown in leaps and bounds, from a small skating event to a large-scale winter extravaganza. Last year, more than 105 000 visitors came out to play.
Online registration is NOW OPEN for the Mammoet Edmonton Winter Triathlon, Northgate Industries Skate Races, Snow Shoe Races, Dead Cold Run, FatBike Fest, Canadian Progress Club 3 on 3 Pond Hockey Tournament and the Kortebaan Races. Visit for registration forms and details.

In addition to the winter sporting events, Silver Skate features a wide variety of free events and activities including horse drawn sleigh rides, live music, winter sports, food trucks and a Heritage Village in celebration of Edmonton's rich cultural heritage featuring pioneer and Aboriginal pieces.

This year’s edition also returns the Snow Sculpture Symposium, and the spellbinding light spectacles of the Fire Sculpture Installations and the Folk Trail.
