The Holiday Season: A Time for Cherished Traditions

November 20th, 2014

By Sheri Landry

The holiday season is often the busiest time of the year: cooking, shopping, wrapping, visiting, the list goes on! It’s also a time when people stop to appreciate the details that make moments shared with family, friends and loved ones special. A season of rituals, nostalgia and memories, even the smallest of details can become a cherished tradition.

To help make decorating your home fun, stress-free and stunning, I’ve got a few finely honed tips below.

1)      Where possible, choose battery operated items for your mantle / table / tree to limit the amount of wires seen in your design.

2)      Limit your colour choices to no more than three complementary colours for a relaxed, inviting feel. For example gold, chocolate brown, and light cream colours are hugely on trend this year and visually appealing.

3)      A great way to include your loved ones in your holiday decor is to include a mirror in your mantle so everyone can see themselves included in your holiday cheer. Mirrors also reflect the surrounding light to add more depth to your design.

4)      Draw your guests out of the kitchen and to places of interest with some well-placed holiday goodies. Adding a bowl of Ferrero Rocher to your living room decor will ensure that your guests head over to check it out. Who doesn't head in the direction of chocolate?

And most importantly, RELAX and savour the time you’re able to spend with friends, family and loved ones. That’s what this time of year is really about.
