Summer Sundays in the Park

DATES: June 23rd, July 7, Aug 11, Sept 1 - from 2 -4
LOCATION: Bower Ponds
COST: Free
TARGET AUDIENCE: Red Deerians and their families
What can we expect? High quality performances in the beautiful park setting.
June 23rd - Free concert featuring Red Deer local Randi Boulton. Join us for some smooth sounds from her recently released album "Sometimes Life" A perfect way to spend a summer Sunday!
July 7th - Free family-oriented concert featuring Canadian Children Entertainer Fred Penner. Remember him crawling through the log on CBC, or how about singing along to "Cat Came Back". Whether you remember him from your childhood or want to introduce him to your children this will be a great show.
Aug 11th - Free concert with Central Alberta's finest mix of rockabilly, outlaw country and steampunk swing, Punch Druck Cabaret. Come out and enjoy this high energy show is one not to be missed.
Sept 1st - Award winning multi-instrumental duo PEAR will be here to grace the stage with their dynamic and high energy blend of country, pop and roots music. Both nominated for fiddlers of the year, these two will put on a show you will remember.

Ross Street Patio Weekly Event

DATES: Every Wednesday (4:15 - 6:30) and Thursday (11:45 - 1:15)
from June to Sept.
LOCATION: Ross Street Patio
COST: Free
TARGET AUDIENCE: Wednesday - people who are enjoying the downtown farmers market. Thursday - downtown business lunch crowd.
What can we expect? Live entertainment every week, mixture of all the arts, visual, performance, musical, etc.
Best thing about this festival? Its free and on the awesome Ross Street Patio.
What should we bring? Money for the Farmers’ market on Wednesday and lunch on Thursday.

Ross Street Patio Street Parties

DATES: July 5th and Sept 6th (confirmed) June 7th and Aug 2nd
(proposed) - 5:00 - 8:00
LOCATION: Ross Street Patio
COST: Free
TARGET AUDIENCE: Red Deerians ready to re-explore downtown, through art galleries, restaurants and other retail businesses.
What can we expect? Great shows in a unique setting

What should we bring? dancing shoes, friends and family.

Westerner Days Fair and Exposition

Dates: July 17 -21

Central Music Festival

Dates: August 16-18
Location:  5 km north of Red Deer on Twp. Rd. 392 [aka Blindman Drive]
Cost: Prices vary for Adults, Seniors and Teens.  Children under 13 free.  All prices include free parking/camping at the site.  Buy tickets online at www.centralmusicfest.com
Target Audience:  Family oriented
What can we expect?:  A field of non-stop music with a Kids Korner, vendors of art,crafts, food & musicians merchandise, and a beer tent in a beautiful natural amphitheatre.
Best thing about this festival?:  The whole experience
What should we bring?:  A chair, clothes to suit the weather, bug spray, family and friends.

Alberta Culture Days

DATES: Sept 27th - 29th
LOCATION: Various locations throughout city, but focused in downtown Red Deer
COST: Free (some specific activities may have a cost associated to them, TBD)
TARGET AUDIENCE: Red Deerians looking to explore and enjoy cultural activities.
What canwe expect? amixture of arts and culture activities, showcasing what we have to offer and what new red deerians are bringing.
Best thing about this festival? the variety of activities.
What should we bring? your friends and family, and your appreciation for Arts and Culture in Alberta.

Festival of Trees- Public Hours

Dates: November 22nd-24th, 2013
Location: Westerner Park, Red Deer
Cost: Adults $6, Seniors & Students $3, Children (4-11) $2 & Kids under 3 are Free!
Target Audience: Something for everyone, Seniors, Adults, Children, Families, Friends and so much more!
What can we expect?: Decorated Christmas Trees on Display, Raffle Alley, Sweet Shop, Gift Shop, Live Entertainment, Candy Cane Lane (children’s activities) & Santa’s Secret Shop (a shopping place just for kids)
Best thing about this festival?: It’s a Christmas oriented community event with something for everyone, and funds raised support our Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre
What should we bring?: Friends & Family & Christmas lovers! Along with spending cash for Candy Cane Lane tokens, shopping at the Gift Shop, Sweet Shop & Santa’s Secret Shop or for Raffle Alley items & Silent Auction items

Festival Lights the Night

Dates: November 16th, 2013
Location: City Hall Park, Red Deer
Cost: FREE!
Target Audience: Everyone! Seniors, Students, Families, Adults & Children!
What can we expect?: Free Hot Chocolate, Children’s Activities, the Lighting of the Festival’s Biggest Tree, Entertainment & the Santa Claus Parade!
Best thing about this festival?:  It’s a Christmas event bringing people and community together to kick-off the Christmas season and raise funds for our Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre
What should we bring?: Weather dependant, wear layers & bring something to sit on to enjoy the parade.
