#TimeforChange - Rock The Change Red Deer

May 4th, 2013

We’ve heard so much about @RockTheChangeRD - a great event in support of something near & dear to our hearts, especially as a family, focused publication. We wanted to know more, so we contacted the organizers and asked them to share their story.

How rock the change started: My name is Stacie Moore and although I haven’t personally been affected by the recent suicide tragedies in Red Deer, I did know a lot of people that were affected. One day, three months ago I saw the #timeforchange group on Facebook and it made me believe that it truly does only take one person to make a difference.

I had so many thoughts going on in my head of what I wanted to do, and immediately. We started jotting notes down on paper, ideas were everywhere, and we knew how much work it was going to take but we still didn’t know how to organize my thoughts so I called up one of my good girlfriends, Jennifer Allbon. She was so excited and came over. We said to each other “this will totally be worth it”. After dealing with all the permits, laws, fees, volunteers, merchandise we are finally just under one month away from the big day! Jenn and I can honestly say this is going to be worth it.

It is June 1st, from 6-9 pm at the Bower Ponds stage in Red Deer, with many local bands, raffle draws, 50/50 draw and many surprises and giveaways during the night! So come out enjoy some awesome music and help us break the silence of suicide!
